In this age of regular ‘soundsystem meetings’ selectors are forced into a slightly competitive situation which, although entertaining, creates a different energy. So we are pleased to welcome Aba Shanti-I to Bristol to run selection on his own sound for the whole night, a much rarer event now than it was in the 90s! We remember his resident dances in London venues The Arches, Southall Community Centre, Imperial Gardens and of course the legendary carnival sessions in Leicester and Notting Hill.
Aba will take you on a spiritual journey through roots music; focussing on many of the classic dubplates he championed during his 20+ years of soundsystem. Many people were concerned after discovering that Aba couldn't make the UNOD Weekender due to ill health - with Aba now fully recovered and fighting-fit we are extremely pleased to bring you the sound of Jah lightning and thunder for this all night session!
