Unthank:Smith is a collaboration between Rachel Unthank from The Unthanks, and Paul smith. Paul initially approached Rachel to see if she would like to sing together, given his interest in folk music and their regional connections. The two North-Eastern Mercury prize-nominated artists are from different musical worlds, but found common ground with an exploratory merging of voices and acoustic sounds.
