"The Walkmen have pumped out waves upon waves of big hooky rock that scrapes at memories of '60s garage while beating with an anguished, contemporary heart. Spacious guitar effects and swirls of organ keep the songs' intentions nice and murky, but the bands has a lot to put display, particularly on the panoramic songs from the new album Lisbon"
AV Club
"The Walkmen return[ed] in October 2010 with 'Lisbon', their sixth studio album, and their first for Bella Union records. 'Lisbon' is the follow-up to the highly-acclaimed 'You and Me' which figured in many best of lists for 2008 and was described as “intimate, intense and beautiful”
The Guardian
"With each album, The Walkmen writing more and more out of less and less, stripping songs to a simple pounding beat, washes of trebly organ, short and shimmery guitar rifts, and Hamilton Leithauser's braying voice. (And sometimes they leave one or more of those elements out, just for the challenge of it.) Yet The Walkmen's sixth album, Lisbon, is the band's most tuneful, varied, and expressive, though it's as minimalist as ever."
Noel Murrey, AV Club
