Phase 1 - Hacking The Past

Speak Out, Trinity's latest project offers young people aged 16-18 the opportunity to develop their creative practice and use the arts to address social issues. Funded by We Move (BBC Radio 1xtra & Children in Need), the project is delivering free artistic workshops for young people across 2023.

Phase 1
Hacking the past

21 April to 12 May

This phase gives you an important introduction to this project using the arts and creativity to explore how you can make a difference through your creative passion!

Session one

Friday 21 April 5pm-7pm

The Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, Bristol BS2 0NW

This session will be an introduction to various art forms we will cover over the project. It will show you how expressing creativity has been crucial in social movements such as Black Lives Matter, Kill the Bill, and Bristol Youth Strike 4 Climate. We will have a visiting artist for the session.

Session two

Friday 28 April 5pm-7pm

The Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, Bristol BS2 0NW

This session is about you! Learn about each other and imagine what you would like to explore through the arts. We are lucky to have guest speaker Mutivation, a dancer, creative and entrepreneur to help you understand how to create your own voice and monetise it!

Session three

Friday 5 May 5pm-7pm

The Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, Bristol BS2 0NW

This session is exploring various art forms such as poetry and spoken word and their place within protest culture. In this session you will get into creative working groups with a shared social interest. You will learn about the power of young voices and begin to think about what you would like to create together as a team! We ask everyone to prepare for this session by researching a movement that means a lot to you and collecting what your family/school/friends think about it too.
