Cherry Croce, Mark Duggan, and in 2022, Chris Kaba are just some of the Black Britons whose lethal encounter with the police have been the cause of protest in Britain if not civil disturbance.  Beyond the headlines are the everyday stories of injudicious use of stop and search, disproportionate use of force, and heavier sentences.  

Bristol artists have responded to the themes of unjust justice since the Windrush but as with BLM 2020 a new generation of artists have expressed similar concerns in their work.

In 2021 young Black artists and activists came together to form Black Creatives group. In 2022 Black Creatives put together a fundraiser for the family of Chris Kabbo. Chris was shot by police officers in London (will check dates) Driving force behind the establishment of Black Creatives Rider Shafique – lyricist, producer, artist shares his journey as an artist and person of colour.
